1. Filamentous carbon catalytic deposition of coal-tar pitch fraction on corundum

Fullerenes, Nanotubes & Carbon Nanostructures Vol. 15 2007      pg. 43
    G. Simha Martynková, M. Šupová

Deposition of volatile hydrocarbons of carbonaceous precursor on corundum wafer, taking advantage of a metallic catalyst incorporated in precursor. The toluene soluble fraction of tar-pitch originally contained metallic particles of iron and nickel. During heat treatment metallic particles accompanied the volatile hydrocarbons conducive to forming a filamentous deposit.

  2. Organo-vermiculite structure ordering after PVAc introduction

    Physica Status Solidi (a) Vol. 204 2007      pg. 1870
    G. Simha Martynková, M. Valášková, M. Šupová,

Natural vermiculite served as a host for intercalation with quaternary ammonium salt (QUAT) followed by in-situ polymerization of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc). The mean crystallite size of PVAc nanocomposite is double compared to that of organo-vermiculite. Molecular dynamic calculation proved a monolayer arrangement of QUAT guests and a bilayer- like system of guest organic molecules in the vermiculite gallery.

  3. Fluorescence and Structure of Methyl Red-Clay Nanocomposites

Journal of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Vol. 8 2008      pg. 2069
    G.Simha Martynková, L.Kulhanková, P.Malý , P. Capková

Two types of clay minerals, montmorillonite and vermiculite have been chosen as a host matrix for the intercalation of methyl red in order to investigate a fluorescence tuning via dye-clay interactions. The effect of silicate layer charge on the structure and fluorescence of dye/clay nanostructures was investigated using combination of molecular modeling with experiment.

  4. Preparation of organovermiculites using HDTMA: structure and sorptive properties using naphthalene

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science Vol. 327 2009      pg. 341
    D. Plachá, G. Simha Martynková, M. H. Rümmeli

Three types of organovermiculites with various organic cations (HDTMA) loading were prepared to be used as sorptive material for non-ionic organic compounds. The experiments evolved the fact that lower loading of HDTMA (50% of CEC) is more acceptable for sorption of neutral organic molecules from aqueous solutions. One of the possible models of intercalated molecules arrangement in vermiculite spacing was proposed.

  5. Organovermiculite nanofillers in polypropylene

Applied Clay Science Vol. 43 2009      pg. 108
    M.Valášková,G.Simha Martynková,V.Matejka, K.Barabaszová, E.Plevová, D.Merínská

Vermiculite was exfoliated using large organic molecules of aliphatic-amines, to be used as organovermiculite nanofiller for polypropylene nanocomposites. The jet milled organovermiculite samples were very well dispersed within polypropylene matrix, it was inspected using XRD and light microscopy. Thermal stability of polypropylene and its nanocomposites with differently exfoliated nanofillers was evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis.

  6. An effective route to montmorillonite intercalation with imidazole complexes: Experiment and theory

Journal of Molecular Structure Vol. 923 2009      pg. 85
    S.Holešová, L. Kulhánková, G.Simha Martynková, J.Kukutschová, P.Capková

Intercalation of 1H-imidazole and his derivative 2-phenylimidazole into the interlayer spaces of both natural montmorillonite and Cu-montmorillonite was carried out by two ways, solid-state intercalation and intercalation from solution. Only the presented solid-state intercalation gave required results. In situ formation of Cu complexes in the interlayer spaces of Cu(II)-MMT is not a feasible way to prepare required clay–coordination–intercalation compounds.
